On this episode of Students of Mind, Jayde sits down with Cristina Mardirossian and Mia Hemstad to discuss trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Cristina Mardirossian, a Pasadena based trauma therapist, talks about what trauma is and how it can develop PTSD, the therapeutic model and modalities that she and other practitioners use to treat her patients, and debunks some of the common myths that surround PTSD. In the second part of the episode, Mia Hemstad, a trauma survivor and self-care coach, talks about her PTSD and general mental health journey, the things she has implemented in her life to help her cope with her symptoms, and what it's like being a mom while also living with mental illness.
